In this lesson your students will use the Marquee Tool to create a background image and use the Warp Tool in Photoshop CC. The jist of the lesson is that they are using the Single Column and Single Row Marquee Tool to create a type of hash pattern that can then be used as a background. Once that is finished your students will bring the same picture back and warp it to give a stylized look to the image.
Your students will review the use of the Single Row Marquee Tool and the Single Column Marquee Tool, the transform command, blend modes, the warp tool and layers with this lesson. You are going to use an interesting picture to create a background. You get the universe image shown, a finished .PSD file and a PDF with 11 pages of instructions and a challenge activity so your students practice the skills individually.
Lesson 20: Create a collage with warped images using Photoshop CC
In this Photoshop project, your students are going to create a collage of “warped” photos. Using Photoshop’s Warp Tool, they will be bending, curling, distorting and reshaping images like the examples you see in this handout. They will add stroke and drop shadows, also known as layer styles and learn how to copy layer styles from one image to another.
You will receive a 12-page PDF file with instructions, four images so your students create this effect and a completed PSD file. There are also two brain challenges so your students can practice independently.
This is the very first assignment I give to my Photoshop students. I teach them how to use the move tool, magic eraser, and Ctrl+T to transform the images being copied from the Internet. I also teach them how to zoom in and out with the keyboard.
Objective 1: the student will use the move tool, magic eraser tool, eraser tool, and the transform function in Adobe Photoshop.
Objective 2: The student will copy and paste images from the Internet with one color backgrounds.
Objective 3: The student will use Ctrl-+ and Ctrl – to zoom in and out of the image being created.
